PBR Preview Workspace¶
The PBR Preview workspace is meant to preview the textures rendered in the Bake PBR Workspace. This gives a good estimate of what your model will look like in other software. It is also in this workspace that you can export the planet with PBR Textures.
Scene¶
04_PBR_Preview¶
View Layers¶
No additional view layers.
Outliner¶
The outliner contains several collections with objects, explained below.
PBR_Preview¶
Contains a planet surface, clouds, and ozone objects. These objects have the textures applied that have been rendered in the Bake PBR workspace. If no new textures have been rendered it will display textures from previous sessions. The objects may be scaled to preference. For example, to make the Ozone layer go further from the planet surface, scale it by selecting and pressing S+MouseMove.
Planet_00_Surface
This mesh has one PBR Material called PBR_Surface. Settings may be adjusted to preference in the Shader Editor to the left of the workspace.
Planet_01_Clouds
This mesh has one PBR Material called PBR_Clouds. Settings may be adjusted to preference in the Shader Editor to the left of the workspace. The object may be scaled to suit preference.
Planet_02_Ozone
This mesh has one PBR Material called PBR_Ozone. Settings may be adjusted to preference in the Shader Editor to the left of the workspace. The object may be scaled to suit preference.
Planet_Displacement¶
Contains a displaced planet surface that uses the TXTR_DM_####.jpg texture together with several modifiers to physically displace the object. This mesh has one PBR Material called PBR_Surface. Settings may be adjusted to preference in the Shader Editor to the left of the workspace. It is essentially a duplicate of the Planet_00_Surface object. This object may be used together with the Planet_00_Surface object for a more realistic displacement.
PBR Extras - Temperature¶
This object (Planet_00_Temperature) has one PBR Material called PBR_Temperature. Settings may be adjusted to preference in the Shader Editor to the left of the workspace. The object may stand alone or could be scaled to suit preference.
PBR Extras - Relief¶
This object (Planet_00_Relief) has one PBR Material called PBR_Relief. Settings may be adjusted to preference in the Shader Editor to the left of the workspace. The object may stand alone or could be scaled to suit preference.
Sun_PBR_Preview¶
A light object that may be adjusted to preference (see How to…Adjust lighting section).
3D Viewport¶
Contains PBR preview objects.
Shader Editors¶
Contains individual materials per object. Setting may be adjusted to preference. Selecting an object in the 3D Viewport makes it’s material active and visible.
Properties Panel¶
No user settings here, except in the Rendering tab. Cycles or Eevee may be used. As these are PBR materials, Eevee is recommended for best preview performance.
Timeline¶
Scrubbing the timeline will process and update animations in textures. Note that if a single frame was rendered in the Bake PBR workspace that that same frame must be active here to preview it (See the How to…Export to another platform section).
