Chart Setup: Datapoint Object

Main controls for the Datapoint Object.

Components

Menu: Shape

Controls that modifies the Datapoint Object shape.

Datapoint Object Shape Menu.

List: Object Type

• Mesh: Mesh type objects.

• Curve: Curve objects (Converted to mesh).

• Special: Custom objects (Slice; Star; Spiked Sphere).

  Objects that respond to the datapoint value individually.

• Custom: Select a custom collection in the scene that contains the Datapoint Objects.

  It is possible to select both a range of objects or a single object in the chosen collection.

Menu: Mods

Controls that modifies the Datapoint Object.

List: Mod

• Displace: Mesh Displacement by Texture.

  Use textures to displace the mesh geometry.

• Subdiv: Set subivision of mesh surface.

• Array: Create duplicates of datapoints based on value.

• Decimate: Merge mesh geometry by distance of geometry or camera.

• Boolean: Enable boolean operations on the Datapoint Object and Area Object.

Menu: TRS

Transform controls for the Datapoint Object.

Datapoint Object TRS Menu.

Transforms the Datapoint Object and all objects aligned to it.

Menu: Align

Alignment and modification controls for the Datapoint Object.

Menu: Transform (TRS)

• (XYZ) Locks: Alignment controls for Datapoint Objects.

  Alignment controls to align Datapoint Object to various components or values. Sub menus contain controls for translation, rotation, and scale.

• Position: Contains override controls for datapoint Origin and Size.

Usage Examples

Change the Datapoint Object Shape

In this example, the Datapoint Cube Mesh will be changed to Datapoint Spiral Curve.

1. Apply the preset:

   Full/Default_00/02_Examples/Object Shapes A
   

Change the object shape

2. Navigate to Chart Setup/Datapoint Object/Shape/Curve/Shape.

3. Select Spiral from the list of curves.

4. Set Float: Height to 1.0.

5. Navigate to Chart Setup/Datapoint Object/Shape/Curve/Mods.

6. Set the Mod selection to Profile.

7. Enable Toggle: Fill Caps.

Fix Alignment

8. Navigate to Chart Setup/Datapoint Object/Align/Position/Origin.

9. Disable Toggle: Lock Z.

Chart Setup: Change the Datapoint Object.

Align Datapoint Objects to Area Object

In this example, the Datapoint Objects will be aligned to the Area Object: Bezier Curve.

1. Apply the preset:

   Full/Default_00/02_Examples/Align Datapoint Obj to Area
   

Enable and choose Area object

2. Navigate to Chart Setup/Visibility.

3. Enable Toggle: Enable Area.

4. Navigate to Chart Setup/Area Object/Shape/Absolute/Curve.

5. Select Bezier Segment from the list of curves.

Align Datapoint Object

6. Navigate to Chart Setup/Datapoint Object/Align/Translation.

7. Set Toggle: X and Y Lock to enabled.

8. Set List: X and Y Axis Lock to Area Geometry Position.

9. Navigate to Chart Setup/Datapoint Object/Align/Rotation.

10. Set Toggle: Z Lock to enabled.

11. Set List: Z Axis Lock to Area Geometry Normal.

12. Navigate to Chart Setup/Area Object/Geometry/Alignment.

13. Enable Button: Use Curve Normal and set Normal Direction to Z.

14. Set Float: Normal Factor to 1.0.
